About Peggy

I am married with three children, and family and tradition are a huge part of my life. My children have been brought up speaking Gaelic and continue to embrace our family traditions through piping and Highland dancing. We also have a working family croft, which keeps us closely connected to our land, heritage and way of life. I have been part of Cèòlas for the past 18 years, and it has become a huge part of who I am. I began my journey as an administrator working just seven hours a week and, through hard work, dedication and the support of others, progressed to full-time employment and eventually took on the role of Ceannard. I am passionate about Cèòlas, our Gaelic language, culture and traditions, and the people who bring them to life. I believe in the importance of teamwork, supporting others and creating a positive environment where everyone feels valued. I am known for my commitment, approachability and willingness to support my team in any way I can. What drives me most is seeing Cèòlas continue to grow and helping to ensure that our language, music, dance and traditions are passed on to future generations. As a parent, I understand how important it is to keep our heritage alive, not just through our work, but through our everyday lives and the choices we make for our families.

Proudest achievements

  • One of my proudest moments was taking on the position of Ceannard at Cèòlas. Cèòlas has been a huge part of my life for the past 18 years, so it was a great honour to take on this role and continue to be part of something that means so much to me. Every day brings its own challenges, but I find the role incredibly rewarding. I love what I do, the people I work with, and being part of the ongoing journey of Cèòlas. It is a privilege to contribute to an organisation that has been such an important part of my life for so many years.

About Peggy's team

I am so fortunate to have such a small but amazing staff team around me. They support me in so many ways, often going above and beyond to help keep everything running smoothly. Their hard work, dedication, kindness and willingness to step in wherever needed make such a difference to my work every single day. I couldn’t do what I do without them, and I am truly grateful for everything they do, often behind the scenes and without any fuss. They really are a wonderful team, and I appreciate each and every one of them.

The journey

I started my journey with Cèòlas as an administrator, working just seven hours a week, and over time progressed to full-time employment. From the very beginning, I have loved my job and have been so grateful for all the people who have supported me, encouraged me and helped me grow into the person I am today. Their belief in me has given me the confidence to take on the role of Ceannard, something I may not have felt ready to do without their support. I am incredibly thankful to everyone who has been part of my journey, and proud of how far I have come with Cèòlas.

Why your vote matters

Your vote would mean so much to me and our team. Cèòlas has been a huge part of my life for the past 18 years, and I am passionate about ensuring it continues to grow and thrive for future generations. Having worked my way from a part-time administrator to Ceannard, I understand the dedication, hard work and teamwork that go on behind the scenes. Your support would be a recognition not only of my journey, but of the fantastic staff, tutors, volunteers and wider community who make Cèòlas what it is today. I am proud of what we have achieved together and committed to building on this for the future. Every vote would be a reminder that the work we do matters, and I would be truly grateful for your support.
